ALL IN THE FAMILY CRUISE HELP LIST
WHAT TO BRING
Your cruise wardrobe should consist of fun clothes that show off the most fabulous you! Remember the tropics are usually hot and humid but temperatures can drop at night. Sometimes there is rain and a bit of wind at sea--so a light jacket, zippered sweatshirt or sweater is perfect. Swimwear and other clothing should be appropriate for children and families. Jeans, lightweight pants/shorts/slacks, T-shirts, dress shirts and tops that breathe, sun hat/baseball caps, lightweight dresses and 2-3 dressy/formal outfits.
Shoes may range from tennis and other casual shoes, sandals that will support feet during long walks and comfy dressy shoes. There is significant walking on board the ship so shoes should be nice but comfortable. Remember, staterooms are compact so pack only what you KNOW you’ll need for 7 days. There are laundry facilities aboard the ship and you can have your laundry done for a fee.
WHAT YOU NEED TO TRAVEL
This itinerary does require a U.S. Passport and State-issued ID. No shots or visas are required. It is always a good idea to bring printed extra copies of passport and ID for emergencies. Bring all medications, vitamins etc. Some items cannot be taken through security at the airport. No weapons, illegal drugs are allowed (they do not play about things like this). Some ships no longer allow travel irons due to fire danger. However, there is an ironing station on most ships. Duty Free alcohol may be purchased at most ports for discounted prices.
Nearly all purchase transactions aboard the ship will be done with your ship issued ID card. You will be asked to put down cash or credit card to post credit to your room. If you don't have a credit or debit card, most grocery stores have disposable cards that can be used on the ship. Do try out your credit card BEFORE you travel to ensure it works. While American dollars are used in most of the countries we will visit, some vendors do not take travelers checks and using a credit card is not always best. Do have small bills available for shopping excursions versus large bills that may draw unwanted attention.
THE DAY THE SHIP DEPARTS
Some people fly in a day early to ensure on-time arrival for ship departure. Please note, the trip producer is not responsible for late arrivals nor will the ship wait for anyone. Please plan accordingly to arrive at the ship in time for scheduled departure. There will be a bit of standing in line the day of departure and disembarkation (leaving the cruise ship when trip is over). We encourage you to have a good breakfast the day of departure and be conscious of the number of items you carry aboard. If you arrive a day early, do choose a hotel near the dock where the ships depart. Taxi or shuttles regularly travel to and from the port. You will need pre-printed luggage tags (you can download them from the carnival.com web site once your cruise is paid in full) with your stateroom number which will made available upon the final payment of your cruise.
You will be leaving your suitcases with porters in a staging area just outside the ship. Make sure to keep your identification and other important documents/objects with you, as well as any medication you need in the event your suitcase is delayed. There is usually water, lemonade and cookies at the port--if you want more than that, bring it with you for the wait.
ON BOARD THE SHIP
Some people feel a little nauseous aka "seasick" the first couple of days of sailing. Seasick pills are available on the medical deck 24-7 and are usually free. You can also bring your own natural seasick medication, patch or other anti-nausea medication.
There are rules on board the ship that must be respected at all times for the safety of you and other passengers. We remind you again that ANY MISCONDUCT OR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR WILL BE DEALT WITH BY SHIP SECURITY. They have a jail on board the ship and they do not play. We want you to enjoy the cruise to the utmost, so again, please honor all rules on board the ship. If you take an excursion separate from the group, its best to go with a friend. Tourists can be targets and traveling in a group is a good idea in any city where you are not familiar.
COMING HOME
Be sure to book your air travel back home late enough to make your flight as sometimes the disembarkation process can take a little time. There are hundreds of people leaving the ship and sometimes finding your luggage takes a little time. Sometimes people with flights leaving around the same time share a taxi or car to the airport to cut down on expenses.
THAT’S ALL!!! HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!
